About Us
Madrasa Dunya is a full-time community space for:
World schooling families, the local people and home schooling residents. Based in the Ourika valley, close to Marrakech, our mission is to be an educational hub, and village.
A home from home set in the breathtaking foothills of the High Atlas Mountains.
Immersed in an Amazigh (Berber) village, we co-create our Madrasa (educational hub) with local staff.
We learn from each other through cultural and wisdom exchange, creating an educational experience which embraces universal values, human connections and teaches life skills to prepare the youth for this Dunya, this life in the here and now.
Your time with us will blend the culture, natural world, history and language of Morocco with hands on experiences, creative and STEM activities, nature based learning, storytelling, music and field trips.
Embracing each child's individuality and passions, we create an environment where your child is motivated and inspired to learn.
Neurodiverse friendly, our experienced team look forward to welcoming you into our inclusive environment.

We are a Moroccan/multicultural family of 7.
4 years ago, we decided to take the crazy step of leaving everything behind in our home town Rotterdam - Holland and make the big move to Morocco! We left without a plan, just seeing where the rivers of life would take us. This of course was a whole adventure with a lot of ups and downs, that finally brought us to this paradise with amazing people. Because of them it was the first place ever that really feels like home. Having the surprise of our little miracle, baby Jelisah and getting the amazing opportunity of successfully opening the first world school community of Morocco.
We can say: Life brings amazing things if you just trust in it and take the ride!

Hi I'm Jenna, founder and organiser of Madrasa Dunya.
Together with my husband, Boubker and my dear friend Heidi who are the left hand in everything I do and the most amazing loving and supporting team.
We are co-creating: Madrasa Dunya.
I am a home schooling mum of 4 amazing kids that always had a passion for organizing, being creative, decorating, and handcrafts.
I worked for more than 10 years as a manager in hotels and restaurants and I did a lot of event and party planning. While parenting my children I discovered a new passion in alternative education. On our journey of getting free from the regular schooling system,
I experienced working at:

Because of Corona unfortunately my dream job at the Democratic school ended.
But this made way for us being able to take the big step of moving to Morocco.
All the ups and downs we came across during our educational journey, experiencing all kinds of different functions in alternative education, overcoming my own life struggles. Brought me to this little paradise with a backpack full of educational experiences of what works and what doesn't, finally having the village my heart always longed for, wanting to share this home with others, while still not having found the right education and expat community we still needed as a family,made me decide 2 years ago to create:

PERFECTLY LOCATED
Our hub is perfectly located within a little Amazigh (Berber) village called: Belhouane.
(Meaning the taste of fruits in the Thamazight language.)
The nearby authentic Moroccan city of Marrakech offers a culture rich, and colourful experience full of amazing things to see, learn and explore.
Located near this central city of Morocco, the Agafay desert, the roads to the famous Setti-Fatma waterfalls and Oukaimeden (ski resort) and loads of things to do in the area, our location truly is the perfect starting point for any Moroccan adventure.

SURROUNDEND BY THE BERBER CULTURE AND BREATHTAKING NATURE
We are provided with a stunning backdrop for any adventure. Whether you're interested in hiking, local immersion, or simply taking in the majestic views.
Our hub is literally surrounded by local farm life and villages, the breathtaking Ourika Valley and river, with access to many different hiking trails that lead into the mountains or deep into the valleys and waterfalls.

ALL IN ONE
Our apartments, hotel rooms, garden,
inside and outside hub/community areas,
are all located in the same gated complex and the surrounding fields.
Both mountain or river hike are right at our doorstep, as we have both level exits.
We have three restaurants, 2 playgrounds, a petting zoo, a little grocery shop, the local souk and public transport to the village/Marrakech all within a walking distance, making our hub a safe place where all needs are met.
